One of the most difficult problems for students new to Pauline studies is determining which commentaries are the most useful. There are a myriad of commentaries designed for a variety of purposes. The goal of this page is to help determine which are the most useful academic commentaries. For each of Paul’s letters I have included sites (some of them my own) that rank and discuss the best commentaries and I have listed the links in order of accuracy. In addition to the lists below here are a few other sites which you may find useful: Nijay Gupta’s Amazon.com page and my post on the top commentary for each letter.
